Who We Are

Founded by the United States Embassy in Sana’a in 1975, YALI now celebrates its 35th anniversary as the largest and most respected English language institute in Yemen. Backed by the United States Government, YALI is part of the mission to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa. As a testament to this end, over a hundred thousand students have studied at YALI and consider it their second home.

We hope to provide public diplomacy by enhancing the English language proficiency of the Yemeni people and to further understanding of the United States, its people, and its culture.
