Here's your quick overview of what has been happening around Wikidata over the last week.
  • Other Noteworthy Stuff
    • User:SuccuBot has made its 100.000.000th edit. It is the first user account in Wikidata to reach this milestone.
    • In the frame of a Google Summer of Code project a new tool, called WikidataComplete was created. The tool smoothly integrates in the Wikidata UI and proposes new statements extracted by machine learning algorithms. Editors are asked to either approve or reject them. To activate it check here for a short tutorial check here. Any feedback is welcome here.
  • Development
    • Continued work on the Mismatch Finder. We are now working on creating the page where mismatches will be listed for review.
    • Worked on support for "separators" parameter for distinct value constraints (phab:T277855)
    • Made it possible to restrict constraints to certain entity types (phab:T269724)
    • Added a new constraint type to ensure that the Item has a label in a particular language (phab:T195178)
    • Added a button for the Query Builder to query.wikidata.org to make the Query builder discoverable (phab:T276210) - integration in the example dialog is still in progress (phab:T280229)
    • We started work on some behind-the-scenes improvements to the way Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects are notified about a change that affects their articles. (They need this notification so the article can be purged and show the latest data from Wikidata again. It is also required for showing the edit in the watchlist and recent changes on those wikis. This should have no visible impact for editors but is needed maintenance work.

نتائج انتخابات مجلس أمناء مؤسسة ويكيميديا الأكثر إثارة للجدل

شكراً لكل من شارك في انتخابات مجلس الأمناء لعام 2021. راجعت لجنة الانتخابات الأصوات التي أدلى بها الناخبون في انتخابات مجلس أمناء مؤسسة ويكيميديا لعام 2021، والتي تهدف لاختيار أربعة أمناء جدد. بلغ عدد الأصوات الصحيحة 6873 صوتاً من 214 مشروع ويكي. حصل المرشحون الأربعة التالية أسماؤهم على أكبر قدر من الدعم:

  3. Dariusz Jemielniak

أكّد مجلس الأمناء على أهمية زيادة التنوع في المجلس. شارك عشرات المتطوعين، بدعم من فريق الميسرين متعددي اللغات، بالترويج للانتخابات بأكثر من 61 لغة. استضاف المتطوعون العديد من النقاشات عن انتخابات المجلس بأكثر من 50 لغة وشجّعوا أعضاء مجتمعاتهم على المشاركة والتصويت.

الإحصائيات

فتحت انتخابات مجلس الأمناء لعام 2021 آفاقاً جديدة في عدة مجالات. سينشر فريق استراتيجية الحركة والحوكمة تقريرًا بأهم المقاييس قريبًا. يمكنك قراءة ، بعض الإحصائيات في ميتا-ويكي. فيما يلي بعض أبرز النقاط.

  • زادت نسبة المشاركة عن انتخابات 2017 بحوالي 1,753 صوتاً. وبلغت نسبة المشاركة الإجمالية 10.13٪، بزيادة 1.1 نقطة مئوية عن عام 2017.
  • كانت أعلى مشاركة بين الويكيبيديات التي تضمّنت 5 ناخبين مؤهلين على الأقل في موقع ويكيبيديا الهوسا والإيغبو، حيث بلغت النسبة فيهما 75٪ (6 من 8 ناخبين مؤهلين). من المشاركات المرتفعة أيضاً ويكيبيديا التيلوغوية والنيبالية والبنجابية.
  • كانت أكبر زيادة في المشاركة بين الويكيبيديات التي لا يقل عدد الناخبين المؤهلين فيها عن 50 ناخبًا كانت في ويكيبيديا الكاتالونية، حيث صوت 36.3٪ من الناخبين المؤهلين (28 نقطة مئوية أعلى من عام 2017).
  • بلغ عدد الويكيهات الممثلة في الانتخابات 214 لغة. أما الويكي التي مثلّها الناخب فهي تلك التي أنشأ فيها حسابه الأصلي للمرة الأولى.
  • 74 ويكي لم تشارك في انتخابات 2017 شاركت في هذه الانتخابات.
  • عدد الويكيبيديات\المشاريع التي تضمنت ناخباً واحداً على الأقل لكن لم تشارك في التصويت 226 ويكي.
  • أكبر عدد من الناخبين في هذه المجموعة كان في ويكيبيديا الكانتونية، بعدد 25 ناخباً مؤهلاً.

انتخابات 2022

من المخطط إقامة انتخابات مجلس الأمناء التالية عام 2022. يمكن لأعضاء المجتمع المهتمين مراقبة صفحة انتخابات مؤسسة ويكيميديا للاطلاع على التحديثات. سيتم انتخاب مرشحين لشغل أربع مقاعد مجتمعية في حينه. الوقت ليس مبكراً جداً للتفكير والتجهيز للترشّح. قد يرغب أعضاء المجتمع بمراجعة مصادر المرشحين لمعرفة المزيد عن التوقّعات وكيفية التحضير لهذا المنصب.

Server switch

The Wikimedia Foundation tests the switch between its first and secondary data centers. This will make sure that Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia wikis can stay online even after a disaster. To make sure everything is working, the Wikimedia Technology department needs to do a planned test. This test will show if they can reliably switch from one data centre to the other. It requires many teams to prepare for the test and to be available to fix any unexpected problems.

They will switch all traffic back to the primary data center on Tuesday, 14 September 2021.

Unfortunately, because of some limitations in MediaWiki, all editing must stop while the switch is made. We apologize for this disruption, and we are working to minimize it in the future.

You will be able to read, but not edit, all wikis for a short period of time.

  • You will not be able to edit for up to an hour on Tuesday, 14 September 2021. The test will start at 14:00 UTC (07:00 PDT, 10:00 EDT, 15:00 WEST/BST, 16:00 CEST, 19:30 IST, 23:00 JST, and in New Zealand at 02:00 NZST on Wednesday, 15 September).
  • If you try to edit or save during these times, you will see an error message. We hope that no edits will be lost during these minutes, but we can't guarantee it. If you see the error message, then please wait until everything is back to normal. Then you should be able to save your edit. But, we recommend that you make a copy of your changes first, just in case.

Other effects:

  • Background jobs will be slower and some may be dropped. Red links might not be updated as quickly as normal. If you create an article that is already linked somewhere else, the link will stay red longer than usual. Some long-running scripts will have to be stopped.
  • We expect the code deployments to happen as any other week. However, some case-by-case code freezes could punctually happen if the operation require them afterwards.
This project may be postponed if necessary. You can read the schedule at wikitech.wikimedia.org. Any changes will be announced in the schedule. There will be more notifications about this. A banner will be displayed on all wikis 30 minutes before this operation happens. Please share this information with your community.
